Leveraging the Platform - Our New Design on Webflow Showcase
A few weeks ago I hired James Baduor to redesign the landing page of Monto.
James and I decided against designing in Webflow and chose Figma instead. That was a mistake.
Monto's landing page is part of a monolithic application. There are a bunch of features currently missing on Webflow. These features are already present in our monolith. This also reduces complexity, redundant work, and improves our developer productivity. I discarded Webflow as an option and did not take other factors into account. Moments like this remind me how years of dry programming can affect your decision making.
The better decision would have been to design it on Webflow and then export the HTML and CSS into our monolith.
An important advantage is that Webflow gives its designers a space to showcase their work.
This means Monto would land in front of a targeted audience of potential customers.
If there is one limiting our growth, it is exposure. Word of mouth in B2B is rather slow. A source to find Webflow eCommerce customers is missing. This cripples our ability send cold mails to potential customers. Webflow Showcase is a great opportunity and I am determined to seize it.
After a chat with James, he offered to migrate the design from Figma to Webflow. This allows us to showcase Monto to our target audience and enjoy the exposure.
I will share more about the impact of this decision on our traffic and growth in the upcoming weeks.
